INDICATORS THAT YOUR CAREER BREAKTHROUGH IS NEAR
The dictionary describes a breakthrough as "a sudden, dramatic, and significant discovery or development."
There will probably be a promotion, project, or chance at work when you will recognize that it was the moment that had the most significant impact on your professional path, similar to breaking through a new scientific barrier. It could be an important discussion, a wage increase, a new project, or additional responsibility you accepted.
It's likely that you haven't experienced your career breakthrough if you're questioning whether you have. If you made a breakthrough, you would be able to tell since it would be a big deal.
Here are some warning indicators that indicate it is approaching quickly.
You're interested in your boss's line of work
Do you frequently inquire about your boss's day-to-day activities or wish to know every detail of their position? Do you respect their work ethic and find their communication and management abilities motivating? This is more of a hint that you are curious about a higher position than it is an indication that you want to take their job. Your manager will also notice this curiosity as a sign of your drive.
Your effort is greater than ever
You're working longer hours, staying up later, and taking on assignments before everyone else. You are the first one in the office each morning and are always available to your coworkers. Your boss has probably trusted you with more responsibilities or is coming to you first for your opinion and ideas if you are feeling especially motivated to succeed at work and take on any challenges that come your way. This is because it is a sign that you are moving forward towards something significant.
When you discover that you are not afraid of hard work, it will be time for you to advance in your job. If it will lead to outstanding outcomes in the end, you're willing to put in the work now.
You encounter boredom at work
It's not necessarily bad to be bored. In actuality, it can just indicate that you don't believe you're being completely employed or that you don't have enough on your plate. If you're feeling bored at work, it's time to take on a difficult project because it could be the shining moment that results in your promotion. Alternatively, your manager might be observing that the work is too simple for you and that you should be given more responsibility.
If you're feeling restricted, stuck, or simply bored at work, this might just be the start of an interesting career adventure. While hitting a figurative brick wall may not be fun at the time, it will give you a sense of urgency and increased resourcefulness to finally plan out and take action on your next big move.
The manager is praising you
A promotion or pay raise is unquestionably on the way if you find yourself in a meeting and your supervisor frequently mentions you, your work, or your ideas. If your manager is on your side, it means they are probably praising you to any higher-ups because they are considering you for a certain position or project that is going to become available.
Additionally, it's more likely a positive sign than a negative one if you feel like everyone at work is talking about you. If it were bad, you would be aware of it. Instead, try to see the bright side of this situation: if people are talking about your work, it implies you are standing out.
You have made self-investment
Achieving work-life balance is challenging at any time. But if you feel like you're approaching a stable balance, it can indicate that a breakthrough is just around the corner. Although you've been working hard, you've also made time to invest in yourself by enrolling in more classes, starting a side business, or just taking the time you need to rest. That knowledge is an indication that you are either living your life purposefully or that you have been making progress toward your highest desire.
Whether or not you are close to a career breakthrough, finding out more about yourself is the best approach to begin. Determine your natural talent and life's mission with priority. Make strategic decisions that more closely link who you are with what you do after observing how your strengths—and the subsequent engagement—appear at work.
